Ch 7 response

The most intriguing part of this chapter to me is Peter Eisenmans claim that Rossi reintroduced typology into architecture through scale-less and meaningful elements.  I could not relate that back to Rossi’s works.

The theme of textuality was brought up again as it relates to the Gallaratese housing and Modena Cemetery.  I believe that he was trying to state that the pilotis in those projects no longer read as the archetypal piloti. The piloti has lost its iconic status through several modifications to the element.  Such as taking it out of scale and making them appear massive as well as repeating them very frequently.  The building is still lifted off of the ground however I do not believe that they read as pilotis any longer.
